It feels as though we were discriminated against for possibly 'killing the vibe' with a baby. We have spoken with quite a few people about this incident before deciding to send an email/ leave a review and everyone else is of the same opinion as us, that we were well within our right to attend a bar with a small infant during the afternoon. As the bar also serves food, we do not see any issue. As far as we can determine, a minor is legally allowed in a licensed premises as long as they are with a responsible adult. We have reached out over email and social media for the venue to provide us with the relative legislation/policy as to why we were asked to leave the premises in regards to having a minor in attendance, but have not heard back. Also, it was 3:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday, not a busy time after dark. We acknowledge that a bar is a licensed premises, and not necessarily child friendly, however we are talking about a small baby, not a child that would be running around/annoying other patrons. We were made to feel very uncomfortable for attending the venue with our daughter. At the time we left peacefully as we were already humiliated enough without causing a scene. There was plenty of opportunities for the staff to alert us to this before we were seated. This resulted in us feeling extremely humiliated, as we realised that the pram itself was not the problem, but our daughter. We were then approached by a staff member, who advised us that we were unable to have our pram in the venue, when we queried this, as it was not in the way of anything, we were told that 'actually, we try to keep the venue child free', and were asked to leave. We were seated for quite a few minutes, getting ourselves comfortable and began to breastfeed the baby to ensure that she would then remain peaceful while we enjoyed a drink at nibbles at the venue. The bar was relatively quiet, with plenty of seating available, we seated ourselves at a large table, tucking the pram into the corner (free of any thoroughfare or doorway). On arrival, we passed 3 staff members, who did not show any indication that this was a problem. had our daughter in the pram, and when met with a staircase, decided to continue, one of us carrying the pram, the other carrying our daughter. We were pleased to see that there was a lift available up to your venue, as this isn't always the case. On Thursday the 28th of November at 3:30 in the afternoon, we attempted to attend the bar with our 4 month old daughter. South American Restaurants in Central Business District. ![]() ![]()
